The Chosen — Joseph (On-Set Production)

Joseph — a feature-length production from The Chosen team, captured on set by Semper Fi Media. The rigs, the lighting plot, the crew moving quiet between takes, and the quiet moments between them. Production photography from a Marine-led studio trusted on one of the most-watched faith productions in streaming.

PROCESS NOTES

How we shot it.

The Brief

The Chosen brought us on set during the production of Joseph to document the work behind the work. Not principal photography — that was handled by the show's own department — but the second camera that captures everything else: rigs being built, lighting being shaped, the quiet minutes between takes that every production runs on but nobody sees.

The Approach

On a set that size, the rule for a documentarian is the same as the rule for a Marine on someone else's operation: stay out of the way, protect the mission, and bring back usable material. We ran minimal kit — Sony FX3 handheld, a single cinema prime, available light — so we could move fast across the stage without adding heat to an already-hot department schedule.

The Craft

Production stills from a feature shoot have to earn their keep twice. They need to work as marketing assets for the production company — and as a visual record the crew can use internally. That meant shooting with composition instead of coverage: cleaner frames, deliberate negative space, and respect for the actors when they weren't performing. No candids of anyone on a break. No shots that would embarrass a department head. If a frame wouldn't look right on the production's own social, it didn't leave the card.

Why This Matters to Your Project

If we can earn the trust of a production at The Chosen's scale, we can earn the trust of yours. The same discipline — show up prepared, disappear into the crew, deliver usable craft — is what every shoot deserves, whether it's a feature film or a single-day brand shoot in Dallas.
